In Flow State With Agents of Change

7 weeks ago I committed myself to a challenge to break old habits. I started dedicating every morning to a 45 minute meditation and prayer as soon as I woke up and haven't missed a day since.

During our last 5 weeks in Oaxaca, after my meditation I would go exercise outside and clean up 1 full bag of trash on the way home. From this choice my daughter began to observe the changes in my mood, in our interactions and in my physical appearance and she became inspired. She started to come with me several times a week to exercise and clean up too!

Through this flow state of finding upliftment and being of service the idea hit me to do Imbued's photoshoot for the new collection in a documentary style. A focus on being an agent of change through radical, small acts of generosity. And I just couldn't do the same ol photoshoot. It felt inauthentic, played out, and contributed to a look that women are boxed into.

With the help of Anna Bruce on our last full day in Oaxaca we were able to bring my ideas to life! And now, it's with a deep breath from a long arduous journey filled with exotic places, hairy situations, lessons learned, and lots of conversations via my translator app that I bring to you Imbued's

OAXACA HANDWOVEN COLLECTION

Ethically + sustainably sourced

MADE TO INSPIRE

From seed to sew all of these pieces are ethically produced and artisan-made in small batches. Imbued's business model is centered on sustainability which is why the pieces are made to order in Austin, Texas and shipped within 3 weeks of purchase.

Imbued's responsibly sourced, artisanal fabric comes from Khadi, a non-profit in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico which supports 400+ Zapoteca families. Their native coyuchi cotton requires no agrochemicals or irrigation to grow and is inter-cropped with squash, beans, and corn which provides food and natural pest control. The cotton is handspun on traditional spinning wheels and woven by hand on pedal looms.

Everything from this newsletter to every part of Imbued's website was built by a person doing her best to inspire conscious consumerism and free-spirited generosity. I couldn't have done it without lots of teachings from my copywriter guru Tarini Bauliya and sustainable fashion start-up coach Shannon Lor, the incredible mission of Khadi, the talented photography of Anna Bruce, and the precious support of my daughter Francesca Brown.

And of course from the support of YOU Dear Reader! Because the #slowfashion movement involves many hands to make it move. I'd love to see the agent of change within you taking action too! So click the button below to head over to Imbued's shop site and send me photos or videos of you doing good deeds while wearing Imbued’s apparel! And please don't forget to share this blog with a friend.

Because you're never too dressed to help clean up this mess...
