Launching A Small Act of Radical Change

Why is a bandana a small act of radical change?

Since 2016 when I got the idea to design a feminine, eco-friendly, ethically made apparel line life has dramatically altered.

And not just because I launched a sustainably made clothing line, moved from Kauai to Joshua Tree, California and took on the role of natural dye artist. But because of the life-altering mix that has touched upon both your life and my life...a global pandemic combined with social unrest and distress.

I feel you...we're definitely in this together but what exactly are we in, who's navigating and where are we going?

A solid statement I do know is that through all these adjustments Imbued’s mission has remained the same...offer limited edition, eco & ethically mindful garments as a small act of revolutionary change towards conscious consumerism.

And while business unfolds through what seems like a topsy-turvy world, adaptations have been made. After launching with robes, Imbued's next garment was supposed to be the hoodie dress. Remember this?...

As winter fast approached and the design phase was not complete, it seemed best to place the hoodie dress on hold and focus on a garment made for warmer days.

That's when the crop top became the focal point.  And I decided that for Imbued to be as sustainable as possible, the shirts should be hand-dyed with plant extracts.

The original plan was to work with natural dye teacher and artist Kristin Arzt to dye Imbued’s crop tops but then COVID halted everything.

My sample maker's office was temporarily shut down and he couldn't work on Imbued's shirt design.  And once the sample design was fine-tuned, with masks in high demand sew factory costs had gone up.

I also couldn't work with Kristin Arzt in person to apprentice and help her dye the shirt samples leaving me wondering how to come up with the color/pattern options?

And so as adjustments were made to the “new norm”, I like many re-invented my business direction with Imbued. Instead of Kristin Arzt dyeing the shirts, she taught me one-on-one natural dyeing techniques through hours of weekly Zoom calls.

Before long I picked up the skill and realized the art of natural dye was something missing from my life. And bandanas were a perfect match for practicing plus a functional fashion accessory due to the pandemic.

Then as I faced the “new "norm” with kids being schooled from home, my 11 year old daughter Francesca Brown became apart of Imbued...soon she will be my artist apprentice!

So you see dear Earth-wise Beauty, Imbued's bandanas represent the nature of our times...the possibilities of change, transformation and moving forward. Because Imbued is a conscious consumer choice made for you that also benefits a mother teaching her daughter about sustainability, ethics, and how to adapt to our fast-changing times…

This act of change is a conscious choice that's...

. Free from synthetic chemicals you’d be breathing with other masks.
. Naturally hand-dyed with plants.
. Made from organic, USA grown cotton.

And best of all…when mask wearing is no longer necessary, your bandana will still be a multi-functional accessory + forever an Earth-wise choice! New bandanas will be posted on the website weekly so stay tuned!

I’m not sure where things will go from here but I do know I’ll continue to follow this mission and see where it leads. I’m happy it lead you here!
